This is a live webinar on Thursday 21 May 2026 - 10:30-12:30
Fee = £95.00 plus VAT or 2 credits
Trainer = Paul Nathanail
Per- and polu-fluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS) are a large family of substances with diverse composition and very, VERY wide variations in their environmental behaviour and toxicity. This webinar will provide a focused insight into PFAS classes, sub classes, groups and sub groups. Unlike petroleum hydrocarbon mixtures or gasworks contaminants fractions and surrogates have only limited relevance to managing the risks from PFAS. The reasons for the wide range of behaviours and toxicities, coupled with insights into the confidence (or lack of) there is in those properties will be covered. Approaches to the investigation, assessment and remediation of PFAS in soil and water (both in situ and ex situ) will be summarised. The LCRM guidance will provide a golden thread through the webinar. Questions from delegates are very welcome through out the event.
Our webinar will be presented by Paul Nathanail. Paul is the lead author of CIRIA C819 "Good practice guidance: some PFAS in soil and the water environment" and the co-chair of the NICOLE PFAS Working Group. He has worked on many high profile PFAS contamination problems for regulators, developers and potential liable parties. Paul will share his deep understanding of the issues those regulating PFAS contamination risks need to appreciate.
